France’s Young Socialists: ‘Green economic planning’ and salary boost are answer to record deficit

France’s Young Socialists responding to the “toughest austerity measures since 1945″ outlined earlier this week by the French Government:

“The Government’s new austerity plan…once again hits the poorest households and preserves those of the rich.

“They are unfair. Never do the Government dream of rethinking the tax give-aways for the richest, big companies….”

The Young Socialists also criticised the increase in VAT because it would cut the disposal income of families and the abolition of a cost of living link to family welfare payments.

They said the record deficit was “not so much due to an increase in public spending as to a cruel reduction in revenues to the state. Relaunching growth is the indispensable precondition for a reduction in this deficit abyss.”

The Young Socialists says domestic consumption should be boosted by ‘green economic planning’ and an increase in wages.
