Xenophobes must not be allowed to curtail right to free movement

“We are in favour of freedom of movement and equality of rights without any ifs or buts attached,” GUE/NGL MEP Cornelia Ernst affirmed in this afternoon’s European Parliament debate with Commissioner Reding on the right to free movement within the EU.

Ernst congratulated Bulgarian and Romanian citizens as limits applying to workers from those countries expired at the beginning of the year. However, the right-wing in some countries has reacted to lifting restrictions with habitual populism.

“Those spouting chauvinistic hate speech such as UK Prime Minister Cameron should be ashamed of themselves. There can be no discrimination on the basis of place of origin; this is a basic right and we support the Commission here,” she concluded.

  1. I’m a GMB member 40 years and labour party member who walked away in 2010 after Brown attack on the working class, today we have MIliband a bloke who will cross picket lines and have special conferences on Unions, and the fact is my small town in Wales now has 9,000 polish people all have council houses or housing association homes and we have 4,000 local people on waiting list.

I did not vote for the EU nobody did we were sucked in and sadly labour messed it all up with 5 million immigrants and built 3,000 social housing mostly for larger families, Miliband is going to the Progress right.

Time for the people to get the vote on the EU.
